Aunnual Golf Classic Fore Scholarships rescheduled to August 17
LIVONIA--The Schoolcraft College Foundation will be hosting the 27th Annual Golf Classic Fore Scholarships on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at the Walnut Creek Country Club in South Lyon continuing with its proud and strong legacy of providing scholarships to Schoolcraft College students. The event had to be rescheduled from June 7 due to inclement weather.
There is still space available for individual players, pairs and foursomes for the 9 a.m. shotgun start. The day will begin with registration at 7:30 a.m., a continental breakfast will be served at 8 a.m., and the event will conclude with a lunch and awards ceremony at following completion of play. A silent auction featuring a variety of great items will be held throughout the day with winners announced during the lunch.
Tickets are $250 per person and there are a variety of sponsor packages as well. The ticket price includes 18 holes of golf with power cart, complimentary beverages on course, use of the putting green and driving range, access to the club’s locker room facilities and all meals.
Sponsorship packages range from $350 for Hole Sponsorship to $15,000 for Event Sponsorship. The best value sponsorship package, the President’s Club, includes golf for four players, sponsorship signage at on-course beverage stations, and a half-page ad in the banquet program, all for only $1,200. All proceeds benefit the Foundation and provide for scholarships and grants that enhance educational opportunities for our students. Last year’s event raised nearly $35,000 for scholarships.
“The Golf Classic is crucial to our fundraising efforts and is a long-standing tradition. Each year, nearly 200 golfers from all over southeast Michigan participate. It’s a great way to show support for Schoolcraft College students, network with fellow golfers and enjoy a great round of golf at one of southeast Michigan’s finest private golf facilities,” said Golf Classic organizer Marjorie Lynch. “Our students are facing financial burdens in these tight economic times and are struggling to support themselves while working toward a college degree or retraining for new job opportunities. This year, especially, we are seeing the impact of the economic downturn evidenced by the increased needs of our students for financial aid. Everyone’s support is even more critical."
