Schoolcraft Media Services to provide production for 2010 High School Football All-Star Game

ALL-STAR GAME TO AIR ON STATEWIDE TELEVISION

East Lansing, MI (May 19, 2010) – The Michigan High School Football Coaches Association (MHSFCA) announced today that the 2010 MHSFCA East-West All Star Game will be televised statewide on Comcast.
Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2010, the MHSFCA East-West All Star Game will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, at Spartan Stadium on the campus of Michigan State University. The game features 88 of the top senior football players in the state of Michigan and includes a full week of practices and other football and community activities at MSU and in the Lansing area.
MHSFCA has partnered with Schoolcraft College Media Services and the Schoolcraft Sports Network will produce the game.
“The Michigan High School Football Coaches Association is pleased to partner with Schoolcraft College to make the 2010 MHSFCA East-West All Star Game available for prep football fans across the state of Michigan,” said Gus Kapolka, MHSCA East-West All Star Game director.  “The television broadcast of the MHSFCA All Star Game is an integral element of our efforts to provide a first-class event for the players, our All Star Game and MHSFCA coaches, and high school football fans across Michigan.”
The broadcast of the 2010 MHSFCA East-West All Star game will air on Comcast Channel 900 on Monday, June 21 at 7 p.m.; on Tuesday, June 22 at 8:30 a.m.; on Thursday, June 24 at 9:30 p.m., and on Friday, June 25 at noon.  Local radio personality Matt Shepard will call the play-by-play with veteran color analyst and former Detroit Lion Rob Rubick and long-time sports talk radio host and sports blogger Jamie Samuelsen as sideline reporter.
“The Media Department staff along with students in the Schoolcraft College Video Production club have been producing on-campus sporting events and Plymouth Whaler hockey games for several years,” said Samuel Gooden, Director of Media Services for Schoolcraft College. “This game is a great opportunity for the staff and students associated with video production to expand their horizons by producing a football broadcast. The statewide exposure is also excellent for our program.”
Past participants in the annual MHSFCA East-West All Star game include current NFL players: Jerome Bettis (Detroit Makenzie); Braylon Edwards (Bishop Gallagher); Antonio Gates (Detroit Central); Vernon Gholston (Detroit Cass Tech);  Jake Long (Lapeer East), Tony Scheffler (Chelsea) and Bart Scott (Detroit Southeastern).
An East-West All Star Game media day will take place at the Duffy Daugherty Building on Thursday, June 17, at 10:30 a.m.  All players and coaches will be available for photos and interviews.
Key supporters of the East-West All Star Game include GM UAW; McCann Erickson USA; Meijer; Blue Cross Blue Shield; and Farm Bureau Insurance.
Tickets to the 2010 MHSFCA East-West All Star Game are $5 until June 12, and available by mail attn: Jim Clawson, All Star Ticket Chair, 21681 Thorofare, Grosse Ile, MI, 48138 (make check payable to: MHSFCA), or by calling 734-676-4486 through June 17 for will-call tickets. Game day tickets are $10 and at Spartan Stadium entrance gates.
