Schoolcraft’s Piano Academy is holding auditions and interviews for 2009-10 school year

     LIVONIA, MI—Auditions and interviews are currently being scheduled for those students in the first through twelfth grades who are interested in attending Schoolcraft College’s Piano Academy beginning in September.
     The Elementary Division of the Academy, for students in grades 1-4, consists of a weekly one-hour group lesson and a half-hour private lesson for 32 weeks (two semesters, 16 weeks in each). Students will learn the basics of music study including: performance, sight-reading, ear training, improvisation, theory, transposition and harmonization. Tuition is $495 per semester.
     The Intermediate Division, for students in grades 5-12 or those with sufficient piano background, receive a weekly 45-minute private lesson in addition to monthly group lesson/Masterclasses, and recital opportunities. Tuition is $620 per semester.

     The Schoolcraft College Piano Academy is under the direction of Dr. Donald Morelock. The success of Dr. Morelock’s former students is a testimony to his extraordinary talent as a teacher and pianist. His students have gone on to win international competitions, enroll in major music schools throughout the world, and enjoy wonderful careers as musicians, conductors and teachers themselves. Dr. Morelock has received five national awards for piano teaching and is a frequent speaker at national music conferences.
     Schoolcraft College is a public two-year college, offering classes at the Livonia campus, Haggerty Road between Six and Seven Mile Roads, at the Radcliff Center in Garden City and online at schoolcraft.edu.
