Schoolcraft College Board of Trustees seeks to fill vacancy

     LIVONIA – The Schoolcraft College Board of Trustees invites individuals interested in filling a vacancy on the board to apply for the position before the 3 p.m., Thursday, October 6, 2011 deadline.
     Applications are available 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.,  Monday – Friday, from the Office of the President, Room 190, Administration Center, at Schoolcraft College’s main campus in Livonia, Haggerty Road between Six and Seven Mile Roads. The Board of Trustees intends to interview qualified applicants and make an appointment in November.
     The seven-member board serves as the college’s policy-making body. To be considered a candidate for the position, an applicant must be a registered voter and a resident of the Schoolcraft district, which includes the Clarenceville, Garden City, Livonia, Northville, and Plymouth-Canton school districts and part of the Novi school district.
     Board seats have six-year terms. In order to be considered, applicants must be willing to complete this term, which ends December 31, 2012, and run in the next general election (November 2012) for the completion of the six-year term, January 1, 2013 – December 31, 2014.
     The vacancy is the result of Trustee Mary Breen’s decision to retire after serving Schoolcraft College and the community for over 28 years.
