"The Dumbest Generation" is subject of October Pageturners book discussions

Mark Bauerlein's "The Dumbest Generation: How the Digital Age Stupefies Young Americans and Jeopardizes Our Future (Or, Don’t Trust Anyone Under 30)" will be the subject of Pageturners book discussions in October.

Discussions, which are open to students, faculty, staff and the community, will be held Monday, October 25, at 6:30 p.m. and Tuesday, October 26, at 1:30 p.m. in the Bradner Library (Livonia campus, Haggerty Road between Six and Seven Mile Roads) and Thursday, October 28 at 4 p.m. at the Radcliff Center (in Garden City).

This shocking, surprisingly entertaining romp into the intellectual nether regions of today’s under-thirty set reveals the disturbing and, ultimately, incontrovertible truth: cyberculture is turning us into a society of know-nothings. Bauerline argues that "the digital age stupefies young Americans and jeopardizes our future" by turning out hyper-networked kids who can track each other's every move with ease but are largely ignorant of history, economics, culture, and other subjects he believes are prerequisites for meaningful civic participation.

"The Dumbest Generation" is available for only $9.80 + tax (a significant discount retail) in the Schoolcraft College Bookstores located on both campuses.
