Evening Concert Series: James Tocco Nov. 14

Friday Evening Series gets underway Nov. 14
     The Schoolcraft College Foundation and the college's Music Department are once again sponsoring the Friday Evening Music Series, bringing world-renowned musicians to the Schoolcraft College campus in Livonia, Michigan.
     Pianist James Tocco will perform on Friday, November 14 at 8 p.m. in the Presentation Room in the VisTaTech Center. Tocco enjoys a worldwide career as a performer, orchestral soloist, chamber musician and teacher and has been praised for his interpretations of Beethoven, Chopin and Liszt, as well as 20th-century composers. He is Artist-in-Residence at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, is a faculty member at the Manhattan School of Music and professor of piano at the Musikhochschule in Lübeck, Germany. In addition, he has been artistic director of the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival since its founding. During the recital, he will perform Beethoven’s Sonata in E Flat Major, Op. 81a;  Barber’s  Excursions, Op. 20; three pieces from Miroirs by Ravel; and Chopin’s    Sonata No. 3 in b minor, Op. 58. A reception will follow the performance.
     Three other performances round out the 2008-09 Friday Evening Music Series including, pianist Anton Nel on February 13, the Avalon Quartet on March 20 and  Robert deMaine, cello and Pauline Martin, piano, on May 15.
