Motorcycle classes fill quickly

About 30 motorcycle classes are taught at Schoolcraft College each year, with an average of 1,400 persons adding to both the pleasure and the safety of riding their bikes. The classes, part of the Detroit-Metro Regional Motorcycle Safety Consortium, are supported with state funds from a motorcycle safety grant administered by the Michigan Department of State.

For beginners, there are basic rider courses presented in three formats to fit most busy schedules. Bikes are provided, and participants get about 16 hours of instruction. For persons who know how to ride but do not have a license or what to brush up on their skills, there is a performance-based course. Participants bring their own bikes to the one-day class. Experienced riders can learn to get the most from their touring or sports bikes in the one-day experienced rider course.

The fee for each class is $25. A complete schedule of all the classes in 2007 is available online. You can register for motorcycle classes by mail, fax or in person. Registration forms are available on the Website.
