Baking and Pastry Arts Program involves a lot of dough
The Schoolcraft Baking and Pastry Arts Program provides intensive training, beginning with the fundamentals of baking and pastries, and progressing through the most refined and advanced skills and contemporary techniques. Certified Master Pastry Chef Joseph Decker shares his enthusiasm and artistry, providing hands-on instruction in some of the most advanced instructional kitchens in the nation.
The program is aimed at chefs who want to specialize, at managers who want to train staff in these specialized areas, and at entrepreneurs who want to develop a business using their creativity and desire to prepare nutritious and beautiful breads and pastries to share with others.
Program graduates are prepared to work in bakeries, pastry shops, restaurants and hotel bakery and pastry kitchens. Other job venues include research and development, food artistry, large corporations, educational institutions, casinos, cruise ships, hospitals and assisted living facilities. Employment opportunities for bakers and pastry chefs are expected to increase in all areas, with a 32 percent increase in the hotel and lodging industry.
