Piano Academy to host Open House for school-age children on March 18

Students don’t have to be college age to study piano at Schoolcraft College. In addition to the traditional college-level courses and adult performance groups, the college’s Music Department provides a variety of programs including piano instruction for students in grades 1-12;  a Summer Piano Camp for mid-elementary to advanced level children; and a certificate program for piano teachers.
On Sunday, March 18, 2012, from 1-4 p.m. children and their parents are invited to attend an Open House to learn more about Schoolcraft’s Piano Academy.  The Academy begins in September and runs through the school year with 32 weeks of group and private lessons for students in the first through twelfth grades.  The program offers comprehensive instruction in sight-reading, keyboard theory and rhythmic skills along with performance opportunities.
During the Open House, guests will be able to meet with Piano Academy teachers and hear current Academy students perform. The Open House will be held in the Forum Building on the college’s main campus in Livonia, Haggerty Road between Six and Seven Mile Roads.
For more information about the Open House, the Summer Piano Camp or any of Schoolcraft College’s other music programs visit www.schoolcraft.edu/music or call 734-462-4403. Schoolcraft College is a public two-year college, offering classes at the Livonia campus, at the Radcliff Center in Garden City, and online at schoolcraft.edu.
