Livonia Symphony Players present free concert on February 9

Schoolcraft College's free Noon Concert Series presents the Livonia Symphony Players on Wednesday, February 9, 2011. The concert, which will begin at noon and last approximately one hours, is free and open to the public. It will be held in room 550 of the VisTaTech Center on the college's main campus in Livonia, Haggerty Road between Six and Seven Mile Roads. is free and open to the public.

In its almost 40-year history, the Livonia Symphony Orchestra has distinguished itself in terms of its conductors, musicians, concert programs and audience attendance. Under the direction of current Music Director and Conductor, Volodymyr Shesiuk, the Symphony’s 65 to 75 professional and semi-professional musicians perform a full concert series and a variety of special events throughout the year.

The LSO was recently honored as Livonia’s top volunteer organization and has received an award from the Livonia Community Foundation, as well as citations from the Governor, State Representatives and the City of Livonia.

Program will include repertoire for small ensemble, duets & trios including Mendelssohn's Concert Piece No. 2 in d minor, Op 114; Charles Auguste de Beriot' Concertante No. 1 in g minor, Op 57; Charles Rochester Young's Song of the Lark; Astor Piazzolla's Tango; Brahms' Sonatensatz; and  Waltz Melancholique, by Emil Darzins.
