Popular Motor City Brass Quintet will perform free concert Dec. 5
On Wednesday, December 5, 2012, The Motor City Brass Quintet will make an encore performance at Schoolcraft College as part of the Noon Music Concert Series. During this special performance the group will perform a variety of holiday and seasonal inspired favorites at noon at the VisTaTech Center on the college's main campus, Haggerty Road between Six and Seven Mile Roads. The concert is free and open to the public.
The Motor City Brass Quintet features some of Detroit's most creative and versatile brass musicians, including members of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the Michigan Opera Theatre Orchestra, making the MCBQ an exciting addition to the diverse musical culture of Metropolitan Detroit. Detroit Free Press Music Critic Mark Stryker writes of the MCBQ’s “creative vitality” and “seamless and highly musical performances.”
The group's members, including David Ammer, Derek Lockhart, Dave Everson, John Rutherford and Jacob Cameron, have performed with many of the finest chamber ensembles including the Empire Brass Quintet, the Spectrum Brass Quintet, members of the Canadian Brass, and Yo-Yo Ma’s Silk Road Ensemble. In addition to their performance schedule, members of the MCBTQ also are instructors at the University of Michigan, the University of Toledo, Grand Valley State University, and Albion College.
Remaining performances on the 2012-12 Noon Concert Series schedule include soprano Linda Meehan, January 23; Tubao Bravo, February 6; Gary Schunk Trio, February 20; Schoolcraft Music Faculty, March 20; The Michele Ramo Group, April 10; and violinist Kirk Toth, April 24.
All of the concerts are free and open to the public. Donations are gratefully accepted at the door and are used to fund scholarship for music students.
