Meet Michael J. Wisniewski, Jr., Alumnus and Difference Maker
Michael J. Wisniewski, Jr. came to Schoolcraft College via a relatively circuitous route. After suffering a catastrophic injury while working on the assembly line of an auto company and three subsequent major surgeries, Mike was dealing with a significant depression and lack of direction.
Through the great support of his wife, Margie, he decided a new direction was necessary. With concerns and trepidation based on his performance when he was in high school, barely graduating with a 1.97 GPA, Mike enrolled at Schoolcraft College.
Fortunately with a more mature outlook on life, it didn’t take long for Mike to appreciate the opportunity he was presented with and after earning all “A”s in his first few classes he was invited to become a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the honor society for community college students. In short order, he was elected to serve as President of PTK and has led the group through one of their most successful years on record. He has also distinguished himself on a regional level serving as President for the Michigan Region of PTK, which under his leadership was named as Distinguished Regional Chapter at the international PTK conference in 2012.
Michael will graduate in May 2012 and will speak on behalf of his graduating class at the annual Commencement Ceremony. Before he shares his inspirational story with the nearly 4,000 people who will be present at Compuware Arena on that special day, Michael will be introduced by President Conway A. Jeffress who will be mentioning the following accolades that have been bestowed upon Michael recently, including but not limited to:
Vice President of Communications SC PTK, 2010-2011,
President SC PTK Chapter 2011-2012,
President of the Michigan Region 2011-2012,
Awarded the Distinguished Chapter Officer in 2011,
