Pianist Julia Siciliano performs free concert June 25

On Monday, June 25, 2012, award winning pianist Julia Siciliano will perform a free concert at 7 p.m. in the Forum Building Recital Hall on Schoolcraft College's main campus in Livonia, Haggerty Road between Six and Seven Mile Roads.

Siciliano has been heralded as a musician with “fabulous creative power." Ms. Siciliano has become a well-respected and anticipated rising talent on the world stage, being invited as a solo artist most recently with the Chicago Philharmonic Orchestra and Andrews University Symphony Orchestra. A winner of many local and international piano competitions, she has won prizes at the National MTNA Competition, Heida Hermanns International Competition, Iowa International Competition, Eastman Concerto Competition, and University of Michigan Concerto Competition.

Active as a chamber musician, Siciliano has been invited to perform with ensembles in the 2009 Fischoff International Chamber Music Competition, and won prizes in the International Altenberg Piano Trio Competition.  She has also recently performed on WFMT classical radio station in Chicago as soloist, and as chamber musician with Metropolitan Opera renowned bass-baritone Eric Owens, Barbara Haffner, assistant principal cello of the Chicago Lyric Opera, and Yuan-Qing Yu, associate principal violin of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Siciliano will perform Beethoven's Sonata Op. 53; Scherzo #4 in E major by Chopin; Interlude II by Kirchner; and Liszt's Apres un lecture du Dante.
