A'Tribute to Donald Morelock' is theme of free concert on December 7

A 'Tribute to Donald Morelock' is the next performance in the Noon Concert Series hosted by Schoolcraft College. Former students of Morelock will perform a variety of selections honoring their teacher and mentor on Wednesday, December 7, 2011. The performance will be held in the VisTaTech Center on the college's main campus in Livonia, Haggerty Road between Six and Seven Mile Roads, and is free and open to the public.

Donald Morelock, an extraordinary teacher and pianist, joined the music faculty of Schoolcraft College in September of 1967 and retired in August 2011. Over the course of 44 years, he was directly responsible for
the formation and growth of many aspects of the music program at Schoolcraft College. As creator and artistic director of the Wednesday Noon and Friday Evening Recital Series he brought major artists to the campus and enriched the community immeasurably.

Perhaps his greatest contribution was his outstanding skill as a piano teacher. Many of his students have gone on to win international competitions, enroll in prestigious music schools and enjoy successful careers as musicians. A reception in Morelock's honor will follow the concert.

Other concerts in the series include the Motor City Brass Quartet on February 8; and the Schoolcraft Music Faculty on March 21. More information about Schoolcraft College's music programs, including upcoming concerts, can be found at www.schoolcraft.edu/music.
