Emmy award-winning meteorologist to attend camp at Schoolcraft College on July 13

Andrew Humphrey, Emmy award-winning meteorologist of WDIV, Channel 4 in Detroit will be making a stop at Schoolcraft College to visit with the popular Kids on Campus Weather & Nature Clubhouse camp on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 9:45 a.m.  Mr. Humphrey will share his passion for weather casting with first and second graders and will share his stories, discuss weather, weather safety and answer questions from the young, curious campers.

This year’s Weather & Nature Clubhouse camp is new to the Kids on Campus curriculum and gives children the opportunity to learn what makes weather wet and wild, participate in numerous “cool” activities and games, and become “hot” at forecasting weather. In addition, they will discover what makes everything come alive by exploring plants, flowers, bugs, mammals and amphibians.

Although the Weather and Nature Clubhouse camp is full, the Kids on Campus curriculum offers dozens of other options for children from first grade to high school. Offerings include robotics, aviation and aerospace, adventures in medicine, crime detection, gaming design, culinary boot camp, song writing, art and acting, biz kids, cultural immersion, study skills, academic basics in writing, math, science and for those preparing for college, and navigating the daunting process of college applications.

Kids on Campus week-long camps begin Monday, July 11 and run through August 5.  Registration is currently underway.  For more information go to www.schoolcraft.edu/koc or call 734-462-4448.
