“King Lear” to be performed weekends in March and April

During March and April, Schoolcraft College’s Theatre Department will present Shakespeare’s “King Lear.” Tickets are available at www.scboxoffice.com, in the college’s Bookstore on the main campus in Livonia,  or by calling 734-462-4596.

The first two weekends of performances (Fridays and Saturdays, March 19-20 and 26-27) will be presented Dinner Theatre style. A delicious dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. in the VisTaTech Center followed by the performance in the Liberal Arts Theatre. Tickets for the Dinner Theatre performances are $24.

The final weekend of performances, Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10, will feature only the play, which will begin at 8 p.m. in the Liberal Arts Theatre. Tickets for the performance only are $12.

Considered by many to be one of Shakespeare’s greatest works, the themes of this play—family relationships dealing with love, friendship, loyalty and treason—remain relevant today. This edited version of “King Lear” is easy to understand and the production is on the grand scale theatre goers have come to expect from both Shakespeare and the Schoolcraft College Theatre Department.

Schoolcraft College is a public two-year college, offering classes at the Livonia campus, Haggerty Road between Six and Seven Mile Roads, at the Radcliff Center in Garden City and online at schoolcraft.edu.
