Cellist Robert deMaine and pianist Pauline Martin to perform May 15

     On May 15 Schoolcraft College will host the final concert for the 2008-09 Friday Evening Concert Series with a wonderful performance by Robert de Maine, principal cellist of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, accompanied by pianist Pauline Martin. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students and will be available at the door. The concert will begin at 8 p.m. in the VisTaTech Center located on the college's main campus in Livonia, Haggerty Road between Six and Seven Mile Roads. A reception will follow the performance.

     Praised by The New York Times as “an artist who makes one hang on every note,” cellist Robert deMaine has distinguished himself as one of the finest musicians of  his   generation, having performed to critical acclaim as soloist, recitalist, recording artist, and chamber musician  throughout the world.

     Pianist Pauline Martin continues to earn world-class recognition for her solo and chamber music performances and recordings. She has appeared as soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, the New American Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra London Canada and others, and appears regularly with the Detroit Chamber Winds and Strings.

     Veteran pianist Menahem Pressler proclaims, “I am impressed by the beautiful sound, technical expertise and unanimity of conception of deMaine and Martin. These two must continue to perform together!”

     They will be performing: Adagio from Toccata in C, Bach; Sonata for Viola da Gamba and Cembalo, Bach;
Sonata in g minor, Op. 5 No. 2, Beethoven; and Sonata in F, Op. 99, Brahms.
