Transition Center Luncheon to focus on "Marvelous Michigan Women" on Jan. 25

Local actress, Susan Berg, will present her new one-woman show Marvelous Michigan Women on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. as part of the Transition Center's luncheon series. The luncheon and presentation will be held in the VisTaTech Center on the college's main campus in Livonia, Haggerty Road between Six and Seven Mile Roads.

Tickets are $20 per person and include lunch. Reservations must be made in advance by Friday, Jan. 18.

Berg is a Detroit Free Press Best Actress nominee for both 2002 and 2003. Her new show, which includes both narrative and song, was inspired by the lives of Ella Kellogg, Edna Ferber, and Betty Ford. All three women are honored in the Michigan Women’s Hall of Fame in Lansing, where Berg has presented programs on Michigan history. Berg has also performed at The Henry Ford , the Detroit Institute of Arts, Michigan Opera Theatre, Meadowbrook, Detroit Public Library, Michigan Shakespeare Festival, Detroit Historical Museum, and dozens of schools and adult organizations.

A graduate of Michigan State University and a member of Actors’ Equity Association, the professional actors’ union, Berg has appeared continuously throughout metro Detroit in her original one woman shows for over ten years. Audiences have enjoyed her portrayals of everythone from the first ladies of the United States to the six wives of Henry the Eighth.

Proceeds from the Transition Center Luncheon Series are used to provide scholarships for Schoolcraft College students and fund the many services provided by the Transition Center.
