"The Celestial Harmony" free concert celebrates 50th Anniversary of Schoolcraft College
On Friday, October 21, 2011, the Schoolcraft College Wind Ensemble, Choral Union, and Synthesizer Ensembles will perform a free concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Radcliff Center in Garden City. These talented groups will perform a variety of instrumental and vocal music selections as a part of "The Celestial Harmony" concert.
One of the featured selections to be performed is the college's official song, "Look Ever Upward," in tribute and recognition of Schoolcraft College's 50th Anniversary. "This concert is a great way for music lovers to kickoff this special weekend of celebration for the college," said Paul Michalsen, director of the Wind Ensemble, referring to the Golden Gala festivities planned for Saturday, October 22.
"All of the musical performance groups of the college will be hosting concerts throughout the entire school year in celebration of the college's 50th Anniversary," said Barton Polot, director of the Synthesizer Ensembles and interim department chair. "Music has been an important part of the Schoolcraft culture throughout its entire history and we are all excited to be playing a role in the celebrations."
The Radcliff Center is located at 1751 Radcliff St., south of Ford Road between Wayne and Merriman Roads, in Garden City. The concert is free and open to the public, however, free will donations are gratefully accepted at the door and are used to help offset the costs of providing cultural opportunities like this in the community.
"The Celestial Harmony" concert is one of the first of many events and activities planned throughout the 2011-12 academic year in celebration of the college’s 50th Anniversary.
