Monday Morning Coffee Hours and Q&A Sessions for Veterans

 

Schoolcraft College’s Veterans Services Office is sponsoring a series of information sharing sessions directed at veterans and their family and caregivers on Nov. 18 & 25 and Dec. 2 & 9 from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. in the McDowell Center, Room 205.

During these drop-in format sessions, participants can enjoy free coffee and donuts and get answers to questions about the benefits, services and resources available to military veterans, including:

  • Medical benefits
  • Employment benefits
  • Special benefits for disabled veterans
  • State and local benefits available for veterans
  • Educational benefits

     The sessions will be hosted by Department Service Officer Toni Moses, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), a veterans’ advocacy and assistance group, and Schoolcraft College’s Veterans Services Coordinator Pam Paxton-Keehner. DSO Moses will answer questions about a wide range of benefits, services and resources available to veterans. Veterans Day Celebration and Fundraiser for Piquette Square Residents

     The Veterans Services Office of Schoolcraft College is sponsoring an appreciation and awareness celebration on Veterans Day, Mon. Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Students, faculty, staff and the community are invited to stop by the special display outside Henry’s Food Court, sign the large Yellow Ribbon to show support for those who have served in the armed forces, and enjoy some refreshments.

     In addition, participants will have the opportunity to make a monetary donation to Piquette Square, a housing and support services organization for homeless veterans in Detroit.
