Scholars Honors Program 2012-2014
Benefits of Being an Honors Student:
- Schoolcraft Scholars receive a total of $1,980 in tuition awards to take six honors courses
- These courses are not “extra” classes: they fit all majors and programs
- Work closely with honors faculty
- Qualify for honors transfer scholarships
- Transfer directly into an honors program at a four-year college or university
- Make friends and career contacts
- Receive recognition at commencements
Applicant Requirements:
- Be accepted as a student at Schoolcraft College
- Have a minimum graduating high school or college grade-point average of 3.5
- Write a personal essay
- Submit two letters of recommendation from instructors or supervisors outside the applicants’ family
- Have a personal interview with the Schoolcraft Scholars Co-Director
Commitments during the two years in the program:
- Complete HUM 190 and SOC 290 along with four Honors options (all classes can be transferred)
- Maintain a minimum overall 3.5 GPA
- Complete all honors option courses with 3.0 GPA or higher
- Complete 100 hours of service learning (we provide many opportunities on and off campus)
- Attend Honors Orientation
